BLOOMINGTON, IN – Veteran Indiana Basketball guard Xavier Johnson has partnered with condom and lubricant titan Durex in a first of its kind NIL deal.
Johnson told members of the media that the optics of the partnership checks two important boxes.
“For me, it’s important to be a voice for safe sex, especially as a highly visible student-athlete at a university known for a good time,” said Johnson. “It also doesn’t hurt my image when I’m hawking XXL-sized rubbers.”
Some critics question an athlete getting paid to promote what they see as a green light for random sex.
“Sadly, this day in age I’m not shocked,” said long-time IU basketball fan Mary Stiles. “He’s just another example of society throwing morals and values out the window in favor of instant gratification.”
The season opener at Assembly Hall will feature a free pack of ribbed condoms with the purchase of a hot dog and drink.
