BLOOMINGTON, IN – In the first step toward normalizing economic relations, Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson and Guy Fieri, the Mayor of Flavortown, sat down for a casual lunch at local favorite Hinkle’s Hamburgers.
Mayor Fieri has long sought a formal partnership with Bloomington, praising the vibe and the long list of “out of bounds” taverns and eateries.
“I’m sure you’ve seen my shows, but I’ve been all over the world with Triple D and Bloomington is always top of mind when it comes to off the hook grub,” said Mayor Fieri. “Thank you to Mayor Thomson for the invitation and to the fine folks at Hinkle’s for serving up some seriously tasty burgers, I mean shut the front door!”
Mayor Thomson has regularly emphasized the importance of a thriving culinary scene, noting that the health of a local economy is directly linked to the success of its restauranteurs and brew masters.
“The evidence has been clear for years: Cities live or die by whether or not they can sustain interest and growth in their food and drink economies,” said the Bloomington Mayor. “When I was elected, Mayor Fieri was one of the first people to reach out to congratulate our campaign and to request a meeting to discuss cooperation guided by our mutual appreciation of a solid meal.”
The fine print of the Hinkle’s Accord is yet to be released, but the anticipation is that Bloomington may soon be home to several of Fieri’s signature restaurants, including Chicken Guy! and Tequila Cocina.
