BLOOMINGTON, IN – A former general manager at the now closed Denny’s has written a spicy memoir about her time with the company.

Dina Nassim managed the popular family-style restaurant for five years before the company made an abrupt decision to close. All employees lost their jobs.

“It was a tragedy really,” said Nassim. “That place was our world, and it was stolen from us by corporate greed.”

Denny’s is headquartered in South Carolina and ultimately the decision to shudder the doors came from the top.

“This is a tough business and often requires tough decisions,” said Denny’s franchise director Hank Thompson. “The Bloomington location had been losing money for quite some time before the call was made to close and terminate all staff.”

Nassim disputes the characterization of the location as in financial trouble.

“I ran the place, not some suit from out of state,” said Nassim. “We always made plenty of money, but they were never satisfied.”

Nassim announced the release of her book on social media sites, describing it as a “saucy tell-all” that gives the reader “an inside look at all the good, bad, and definitely ugly details of working for the Denny’s machine.”

There are parts of the book that Nassim has shared, including being told she could not fire a cook who regularly put pubic hair in hash browns, and the time she was made to clean a bathroom in which someone had written “Grand Slam” on the mirror in fresh feces.

“It’s a page turner,” added Nassim. “Just be ready to shower when you read Chapter 7.”
