BLOOMINGTON, IN – Mayor Hamilton took action to quell the Halloween anxiety of Smarties laced with glass by devouring the candy at a public event.

Parents have annually expressed fears that the flavorless Smarties have glass placed inside the candy in order to maim or kill innocent children.

The Mayor displayed a family size bag of Smarties before sitting down and bogarting the entire bag.

“I told the crowd that there’s nothing to worry about when it comes to this common Halloween handout,” said Hamilton.

Highland Park Elementary School hosted the Mayor for a Halloween Safety event where he praised the holiday and encouraged the students to be whatever makes them feel special.

“He was awesome,” said principal Margaret Sawyer. “The Mayor made our kids feel great and I still can’t believe he ate all of those Smarties!”

Mayor Hamilton consumed approximately 850 pieces of the sugary discs in a 3 minute span of time.

“It was important for kids in our community to know the contents of their Halloween winnings are perfectly safe,” said the Mayor.

Hamilton was seen leaving the event holding his stomach and rapidly turning pale.
