BLOOMINGTON, IN – A candidate for City Council was forced to apologize after internet sleuths unearthed a late nineties post from his Blogger page that raves about the divisive band Limp Bizkit.
Brett Heinisch is challenging Hopi Stosberg for the District 3 Council seat and is currently facing intense scrutiny for his apparent affinity for the rap/rock band.
“I really thought his ideas for the city were solid,” said resident Karen Tudor. “Now, since I know he even at one time liked Fred Durst, I just can’t trust what he’ll do in office.”
Heinisch has acknowledged the Blogger post and at a recent event was regretful of his past indiscretions.
“I stand before you a remorseful man,” said Heinisch. “It was 1998 and I’m a different person today. I’ll admit, when I first heard their cover of “Faith” I was an instant fan. Upon reflection and in counsel with my family, I am now fully aware of my complete lack of judgment.”
Limp Bizkit was known for on and offstage antics that made them a controversial act in the late nineties and early aughts. In addition, their music was roundly panned by critics as juvenile and derivative.
Time will tell if the outcome of the election will be affected by the revelation. For now, voters seem less than pleased.
