BLOOMINGTON, IN – The IU School of Nursing hosted a networking event at the Health Sciences Building open to current and future medical professionals.
An organization comprised of mostly male physicians called ‘Doctors Without Boundaries’ was present at the event and allegedly made several attendees very uncomfortable.
“Those guys either don’t know or don’t respect personal space,” said nursing student Lucy Chen. “I can’t tell if the name means they’ll provide medical care anywhere, or that they literally don’t believe in boundaries.”
Others at the mixer say the doctors went beyond just invading personal space.
“One of the guys pulled out a stethoscope and asked if he could check my heart rate,” said Daphne Lee. “I told him no but the next thing I knew he was putting it down my shirt. I just ran home.”
School of Nursing officials and mixer organizers are looking into the group’s history and reputation. An initial review indicates that the members may not even be licensed physicians.
